Floyd Mayweather has confirmed his retirement after going unbeaten for fifty fights, with the last one culminating against his boxing match against MMA fighter Conor McGregor. Floyd Mayweather spent three rounds getting a good sense of McGregor’s fighting style, before spending seven rounds knocking him out, saying, “Our game plan was to take our time, go to him, let him shoot his shots early and then take him out down the stretch. We know in MMA, he fights for 25 minutes. After 25 minutes, he started to slow down. I guaranteed to everybody that this wouldn’t go the distance.” Indeed, Floyd Mayweather was one of the all time boxing greats, and while it isn’t surprising to see him beat McGregor, it does make for a wonderful culmination to his career. Floyd Mayweather announced his retirement, but it would also be his third, with his last retirement being in 2015 after beating Manny Paquiano, so who knows whether it’ll stay, but Mayweather was quoted as saying “I chose the right dance partner for my last dance … this was my final fight”.
