Virginia Native Starts Petition to Replace Confederate Statue with Missy Elliott

•  The conversation over Confederate statues reached a head recently following the riots in Charlottesville, with more and more cities either removing or being pressured to remove their statues of generals who fought for basically slavery. The Virginia town of Portsmouth is getting an exciting option however — replace their statue honoring a confederate soldier with a statue of Grammy award winning artist Missy Elliot.  On a petition you could sign why — right here — Nathan Collin explains his case for putting up a statue of the former Melissa Arnette Elliott — now Missy Elliot — who herself was born in Portsmouth, saying —
