OJ SIMPSON GRANTED PAROLE
OJ Simpson was one of the biggest stories for the cable news industry when it came out — if not the biggest— and the trials for the murders of his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman dominated the air waves. OJ Simpson was acquitted of those crimes, but in 2008 was convicted of armed robbery for stealing sports memorabilia from a Las Vegas hotel. He was sentenced for 33 years, and recently a parole board granted OJ Simpson parole. He will be released from prison in October. OJ’s closing statements said —”I’ve spent nine years making no excuses about anything. I am sorry that things turned out the way they did. I had no intent to commit a crime. … I’ve done my time. I’d just like to get back to my family and friends — believe it or not, I do have some real friends — and I tried to be helpful to everybody.” The parole comittee voted to have OJ Simpson released in an unanimous vote of 4-0. OJ Simpson will be released free to continue the next chapter in his tumultuous life — and the media’s relationship with said life. What do you think of the OJ Simpson parole?
