The Bachelor franchise has been under fire for years with previous contestants speaking out about the truth behind-the-scenes of the “reality” dating show. Alcohol hasn’t truly been hidden on the show, but according Lauren Himle who appeared on The Bachelor in Paradise last season, producers push alcohol on the cast. “They’re like, ‘OK, tequila shots for everyone.’ And of course you’re gonna take the shot; you’re not gonna be the only person that’s not. When you’re fed alcohol, you really have less of a filter which in the producers’ eyes is good for them,” she told Inside Edition. Her comments about the show come just after news broke about the Bachelor in Paradise suspending taping indefinitely due to allegations of “misconduct” reported by one of the shows producers. Although Warner Brothers, the production company behind the show has not released details on exactly what happened on June 4, there have been reports that it has to do with a non consensual sexual incident between two contestants, Corinne Olympios and DeMario Jackson. “I am a victim and have spent the last week trying to make sense of what happened,” Olympios said in a statement obtained by CNNMoney from her publicist. “Although I have little memory of that night, something bad obviously took place.” Allegations are swirling that Olympios had blacked out and was unconscious during a sexual encounter in the pool with Jackson. According to Himle, “there are always cameras and produces everywhere… There’s no chance that no one saw what was going on. Zero.” Jackson’s publicist also released his statement on Wednesday. “It’s unfortunate that my character and family name has been assassinated this past week with false claims and malicious allegations,” Jackson said, “I will be taking swift and appropriate legal action until my name is cleared.” Based on her experience on the show, Himle said the atmosphere was a disaster waiting to happen. “It was only a matter of time before something bad happened.” Himle isn’t the only previous contestant from The Bachelor franchise to speak out about the bottomless drinks the producers push on the cast. Leslie Houghe’s from Sean Lowe’s season of the Bachelor spoke to The Daily Beast in 2013 about the endless booze on set. “It’s how they get you to be more talkative, more sensitive,” she said. Bachelorette alum, Chris Bukowski echoed Houghes’ words when he told Cosmopolitan nothing on the show is real “except the vodka sodas.” What do you guys think? Is the Bachelor’s atmosphere dangerous?
