The ‘Power Rangers’ Movie Is Turning Alpha 5 Into a Creepy Monstrosity

I am perfectly willing to admit that Alpha 5, the robot sidekick of the Power Rangers’ boss, Zordon, is annoying. He’s like the Jar Jar of the Rangers universe. So the Power Rangers new movie’s idea of including him was a little bit odd. But in the end, he’s a cute robot who’s pretty helpful. Well, until now. See, now, Alpha 5, voiced by Bill Hader in the new movie, has been transformed into an ugly mutated… thing. It’s not a robot, and it’s not an alien. Alpha 5 just isn’t Alpha 5 anymore. If you need a reminder of who Alpha 5 actually is, here is one:

Cute, right? Alpha was a klutz, but in the end he was an aid to both the Rangers and Zordon. The new one looks like it needs aid itself. The eyeball stalks scare me. It’s too lanky for its own damn good. Here’s Twitter’s best reactions to this new, lesser version:
