Pakistan’s First Trans Model Is Dedicated to Ending Transphobia

  • This is the stunning Kami Sid.Source: geo.tv

  • This is Kami Sid. She’s Pakistan’s very first out transgender model, and she’s absolutely killing it.  Kami participated in the recent documentary How Gay Is Pakistan? in an effort to raise awareness about the abuse of LGBTQ people in her country. Homosexuality is illegal in Pakistan, because it is viewed as an offense against Islamic law. As a result, being gay in Pakistan is no easy feat.  Kami also recently collaborated with Karachi-based stylist Waqar J. Khan, photographer Haseeb M. Siddiqi, and makeup artist Nighat Misbah to put together an incredible photo series. For a full look at the photoshoot, check it out here.

  • Absolutely beautiful.

  • Look at this incredible array of colors and fabrics.

  • According to Kami’s interview with BuzzFeed:   “Most notably, in May, a 23-year-old trans woman, Alisha, was gunned down, humiliated at the hospital, and denied treatment, which led to her death. And in the last few months, videos of sexual assault of transgender Pakistanis have been making rounds on the internet. Many trans women have taken to the internet to report their rapes. Over 45 transgender Pakistanis have been killed since 2015 in the country’s northern province, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, alone.”

  • Slay Queen.
