Emma Watson Leaves Inspiring Books in the NYC Subway

  •  When she’s not beatboxing for Lin-Manuel Miranda to promote gender equality, Emma Watson is a woman of many interests. One of them is books! And not just Harry Potter books, either!  Last week, Watson posted on her Instagram that she’s been hiding copies of Mom & Me & Mom by Maya Angelou on the London Underground. But guess what, American pig-dog swine? No need to feel left out, because now she’s doing it in New York, too.

  • She announced her intentions on Twitter earlier this week:Source: twitter.com / Via: twitter.com

  • Then she followed through:Source: twitter.com / Via: twitter.com

  • Someone even found that copy and tweeted about it!Source: twitter.com / Via: twitter.com

  • JK Rowling is a fan:Source: twitter.com / Via: twitter.com

  •  Obviously, this isn’t just about getting people to read inspirational, important books by legendary writers. (Though that’s important, too.) No, it’s also about the importance of not letting this horrific (but also sometimes good) year take its toll on you.  I’m just happy Emma’s using her power of celebrity for good. Here’s hoping other people start sharing books on the subway, too. And also: here’s hoping that the “see something, say something” policy doesn’t end in any of these books getting detonated by a bomb squad.  What do you think? How excited would you be to find a celebrity’s book? Let us know in the comments below or @WhatsTrending on Twitter!
