Men Quit Taking Birth Control Because Side Effects Were “Too Severe”

Male Birth Control Could Be The New Thing. So we all know it takes two to tango, and SURPRISE it also takes two people to get pregnant! However, the burden of birth control is often a responsibility put on women, as we know by the surplus of contraceptive products marketed to us ladies. If you’re unaware of this, here’s a lawsuit regarding one of the many BC options. Researchers were recently in the midst of conducting a super interesting male birth control study, but the trial was cancelled after participants complained about depression, mood swings, and change in sex drive. Can you imagine?! Those POOR men, how could they subject them to such torture? The study (using a hormonal shot on men) was found to be 96% effective at preventing pregnancy, but apparently it wasn’t worth the apparently minor side effects. Turns out, the guys just couldn’t handle being teenage girls.
OBVI, some women were pissed.Source: twitter.com / Via: twitter.com

Many women voiced their concern on Twitter of never hearing about a birth control (for women) study being pulled due to side-effects. Millions of women taking birth control have widely accepted the reality that preventing child birth comes with some hormonal swings, so why was that such a big deal for men? According to CNN: “Overall, 20 men dropped out early due to side effects. A total of 1,491 adverse events were reported by participants, including injection site pain, muscle pain, increased libido and acne. The researchers say that nearly 39% of these symptoms — including one death by suicide — were unrelated to the shots.”
So even though nearly 100% of women experience side-effects while taking various methods of birth control, this study concludes that even a small amount of male suffering is SIMPLY unacceptable. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below or @WhatsTrending on Twitter.
