Police Lieutenant Dances to Beyoncé, Breaks the Internet
I can not tell a lie. Though I do love Beyoncé and think she is one of the greatest female musicians ever, I have to admit that I didn’t watch or listen to Lemonade when it released and pretty much broke the Internet. “Formation”, however, is one of my favorite songs and makes me want to watch the music video for hours and try to learn all of the dance moves. Lieutenant Deuntay T. Diggs had the same idea and has recently been dancing along to Beyoncé’s song at different events. When Diggs performed for students at North Stafford High School’s homecoming pep rally, everyone went crazy and instantly fell in love with him.

During a phone interview with BuzzFeed, Diggs admitted that he “basically learned the choreography the night before [he] performed it.” He’s a huge Beyoncé fan (like all of us) and “watched her video on YouTube over and over again” until he had the choreography memorized. Lieutenant Diggs also shared that he was the first openly gay cadet to attend the Virginia Military Institute and to serve at the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. Though coming out to his foster family was not easy, Diggs is proud of the hardships he has overcome and is now using his experiences to help others as a motivational speaker. Prior to Diggs’ performance at NSHS (where his fiancé and partner of seven years teaches), he received news that his biological mother had terminal cancer. Ready to cancel his performance, his mother encouraged him to continue dancing. Along with his solo performance, Diggs kept entertaining at the pep rally when he jumped in to dance with the NSHS dance team. You can check that performance out below:
