Ryan Lochte Protestors Storm the ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Stage

  •  By now we all know Ryan Lochte is a big ol’ piece of sh*t. Oh well. At least the Gregory Brothers made something entertaining out of this trash fire of a person. Now can we all move on?  Turns out the answer is NO, NEVER! In a move that’s cynical even for reality television, ABC offered Lochte a contestant slot on long-running show Dancing With the Stars. The show aired the first episode of its 23rd season this week, giving Lochte a chance to redeem himself in the eyes of America with the power of dancing. His “second chance” was instead marred by protestors bum-rushing the stage.  Here’s what the viewers at home saw:

  •  In the video from Good Morning America, two men wearing shirts with the word “Lochte” crossed out stormed onto the DWTS stage during Lochte’s judging. One of them gets tackled by a security guard; the other just gets pulled away.  The protestors also apparently shouted “LIAR!” at Lochte, which, though technically accurate, seems a bit much. More people in the audience wearing the anti-Lochte shirts were escorted from the building, and the two men who rushed the stage were arrested for trespassing.  “Technically accurate but a bit much” seems to be the perfect way to describe this whole incident. Is Lochte, as one commenter in our video memorably put it, a “douchetool”? Yes. Is DWTS baiting the public by giving him a national platform just a month after he proved his douchetoolery? Also yes. But that doesn’t give anyone an excuse to make the guy potentially fear for his life. There are plenty of other forces of badness in society that these dudes could be better spending their energy on.  What do you think? Does Ryan Lochte deserve the protests, or should we give him a second chance? Let us know in the comments or @WhatsTrending on Twitter!
