Hydraulic Press Channel Tops Itself Again, This Time With Dynamite
Source: www.youtube.com / Via: www.youtube.com
The Hydraulic Press Channel is one of the most endlessly watchable distractions on YouTube. The channel first broke through with a video of Lauri and Anni Vuohensilta testing the myth that you can’t fold a piece of paper more than seven times by attempting to do so with, what else, a hydraulic press. Since then, the channel has gained over a million subscribers and crushed some pretty crazy stuff with their press. From relatively mundane things like books and foam to more exotic materials like a diamond and non-Newtonian fluid. But as with all things YouTube, you have to keep topping yourself to keep people interested. And top themselves the Hydraulic Press Channel has. The latest video uploaded to the channel features the Vuohensiltas teaming up with the Swedish Dynamite Channel in the ultimate Scandinavian YouTube badass science collaboration. (In case you can’t immediately place the HPC accent: they’re Finnish.) In the video, the HPC tests what happens when you try to crush dynamite with a hydraulic press. The video is definitely worth a watch, but if you can’t contain your curiosity, SPOILER ALERT: nothing happens. The hydraulic press may be powerful, but it doesn’t offer any combustion, meaning the dynamite stays inert. That is, it does, until they deliberately blow it up — taking the hydraulic press with it. Don’t worry, though. This is just their smaller, travel-sized press. They’ll still be making videos for us all to enjoy once they’re back in Finland. Oh, and I shouldn’t have to say this, but don’t try this at home. What do you think? Were you surprised by the result? Let us know in the comments below or @WhatsTrending on Twitter!
