Daisy Ridley Quit Instagram After Gun Control Post

  • RIP Daisy Ridley’s Instagram account. The Star Wars actress recently deleted her Instagram account. The media has attributed the deletion to a recent post created by Ridley just after the Teen Choice Awards in which she advocated for gun control. The post, now unavailable on Instagram and since deleted from Facebook, read: “[As] I sat in the audience yesterday tears were streaming down my face at the tribute to those that have been lost to gun violence,” Ridley wrote. “I didn’t get a great picture of the incredible group that came on stage but they were so brave. It was a true moment of togetherness. We must #stoptheviolence.”

  • The post received a great deal of negative attention with many comments accusing Ridley of being a hypocrite because of the gun violence in the Star Wars films. Soon after the post was deleted along with Ridley’s entire Instagram account.  According to Entertainment Weekly, Ridley did briefly re-activate the account in order to explain the deletion, posting: “I just want to be on my phone less! Trying to be more present and all that and got a busy few months ahead so wanted less distractions… It’s all good! I always appreciate the support and love the Instagram community! X.” Whatever the case my be, we’re going to miss the often uplifting messages Ridley once posted on the now deleted account. Are you going to miss Daisy Ridley on Instagram?
