#ShaneDawsonIsOverParty Erupts on Twitter After Controversial Joke
Popular YouTuber Shane Dawson is no stranger to controversy. While he’s engendered support among the online content community for opening up about his sexuality and body dysmorphia, he’s also told “social justice warriors” to “die” and been called out for using blackface in his early videos. (For what it’s worth, he took down the blackface videos and apologized.) The latest firestorm surrounding Dawson deals with a joke made at the expense of Blue Ivy Carter, the daughter of Beyoncé and Jay Z. The joke comes at 3:23 in this video:

Here’s the comment in text form: I’ve seen some babies that have some adult-ass faces. Beyoncé’s kid? He looks like he’s 48 and works at a bank. Like no thank you Ivy, I’m good. I don’t need a savings account. Of course, Blue Ivy is four years old, looks four years old, and is not male. This spurred thousands of Beyoncé fans — known by their fandom nickname, the “Beyhive” — to tweet under the hashtag #ShaneDawsonIsOverParty. (If that sounds familiar, it’s because it’s similar to the #TaylorSwiftIsOverParty tag that trended during the great Swift/Kardashian war of two weeks ago.) Beyhive members dug through Dawson’s long Twitter and YouTube history to find the most damaging things they could. The results were not pretty.
