Democrats Release A Cappella Video Remix of ‘Fight Song’ for DNC 2016

  •  The second night of the Democratic National Convention didn’t produce quite as many internet meme-worthy moments as the Republicans’ convention did. Sure, there was Howard Dean re-enacting the legendary Dean Scream, and Bill Clinton being smooth as butter without once mentioning Trump, as he’s been known to do on the campaign trail. Oh yeah, then there was the truly WTF moment of Hillary Clinton’s face smashing through a collage of portraits of every previous President while a shattering glass sound effect played. What was that about?  Besides all that, there was one shining moment of pure, “is-this-what-millenials-like” virality, and it was the Pitch Perfect-inspired video remix of Rachel Platten’s hit “Fight Song” you can see above.  According to Variety, the video was produced by Elizabeth Banks, Bruce Cohen, and Mike Tompkins. The video, an a cappella rendition of the Platten hit, features the following list of stars, per Variety: “Aisha Tyler, Alan Cumming, America Ferrera, Elizabeth Banks, Eva Longoria, Idina Menzel, Jane Fonda, Kristin Chenoweth, Mandy Moore, Renee Fleming, Rob Reiner and Sia.”  This is not the first time Pitch Perfect has inspired a viral hit. In advance of the sequel’s release, the cast took over The Late Late Show With James Corden. Plus, there was the time the movie was the star of a Reddit conspiracy theory. But this might be the movie franchise’s biggest stage yet.  What did you think? Did you love the “Fight Song” remix, or is this just another attempt by politicians to pander to millennials?
