“I Want to Be Neenja” Is a New, Cringeworthy Low for Internet Racists
Source: www.youtube.com / Via: www.youtube.com
UPDATE: The original video has been made private, but as of this writing it’s still up on a mirror account. Check it out above. Original story below: Jennifer Murphy, a YouTuber and executive director of a bed store in Orange County, California, is drawing the internet’s ire today for the most racist viral video since that racist detergent commercial. The video is embedded above, but in case Murphy comes to her senses and takes it down, here’s the gist. Murphy sings in an extraordinarily racist imitation “Asian” voice about how she wants to be a ninja so she can take down a ninja villain named “Chow.” If you’re worried she didn’t include a plug for her bed brand, don’t worry, it’s in the first f*cking line. “I want to chop, chop, chop Chow down/Take Chow down to Chinatown,” Murphy merrily croons, while an Asian woman — clearly brought in as an “I’m-not-racist” prop — looks on in extreme discomfort. “I can’t wait to produce the hilarious music video soon!” reads the video’s description. May god have mercy on us all if that ever comes to pass. The video reached the front page of Reddit recently, prompting a flood of comments on both YouTube and Reddit. There’s anger, there’s uncomfortable laughter, but most of all, there’s cringing. “Can’t watch the whole thing, cringing too hard inside,” writes Meowing_Hard on Reddit. “This is what happens when a spoiled rich girl is never told no. This is so bad I can’t even properly insult it,” says djAnakin on YouTube. Right there with you. As of this writing, the video has gained over 10,000 dislikes and only 563 likes — a nearly 95% dislike percentage. What do you think? Is this the most embarrassingly racist thing you’ve seen go public lately, or is there something EVEN MORE RACIST that we’re missing? Let us know in the comments below or @WhatsTrending on Twitter!
