Gretchen Carlson Sues Fox News CEO Roger Ailes for Sexual Harassment
Variety reports that longtime former Fox News personality Gretchen Carlson has filed a lawsuit for wrongful termination and sexual harassment against her former employer. Her lawsuit claims Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes made sexual advances on her and terminated her contract when she turned him down. Carlson was a co-anchor at Fox & Friends from 2005 to 2013 and host of her own show, The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson, from 2013 until June 23, 2016. According to her lawsuit, she was removed from the Fox & Friends morning show when she complained about her co-host Steve Doocy’s behavior. Carlson started the #StandWithGretchen hashtag on Twitter with this tweet:

According to Variety, Fox has yet to comment on the lawsuit. Gretchen Carlson began her career as Miss America 1989 and has been a fixture of the news media ever since. In an official statement, Carlson said the following: Although this was a difficult step to take, I had to stand up for myself and speak out for all women and the next generation of women in the workplace… I am extremely proud of my accomplishments at Fox News and for keeping our loyal viewers engaged and informed on events and news topics of the day.
