Kanye Releases “Famous” Video, Inspires Parodies, Outrage

  • For all his South Side neighbors that know him best, Kanye and Taylor might still have sex. Why? Certainly not because he made that girl famous — he didn’t — and also certainly not because he made a creepy naked wax figure of her in his new video for single, “Famous.” (For the non-Kanye fans in the audience, the above is composed mostly of lyrics from the song.) The video, which we’d embed but we can’t because it’s only on Tidal, features Kanye lying in bed with Kim Kardashian and a bunch of wax statues of famous people, including Taylor Swift, Donald Trump, Rihanna, and more. Though it’s only been out for a couple days, it’s already sparked a wide range of parodies, including gags from Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel. See their takes on the video below:

  • Of course, not everyone is taking the video so lightly. Lena Dunham wrote a Facebook post about the video that quickly went viral and is embedded below. To summarize: Dunham thinks Kanye is mean and sexist and bad. (He did say Bill Cosby was innocent.) Here’s her post:

  • What do you think? Is Kanye’s “Famous” video an evil sexist monolith, or a brilliant commentary on his career as a whole? Let us know in the comments below or @WhatsTrending on Twitter!
