‘Swapped: American Psycho’ Switches Up Gender Roles

We’ve all seen recreations of famous movie scenes done by fans, but how many of those swap gender roles? Maybe some, out of convenience, but to make a point? SWAPPED is a new series by NYC comedian Dani Leonard and Zoe Samuel, taking scenes from iconic films and flipping the genders of the characters in an attempt to start a conversation about the limited types of roles available for women in film. The first installment in this series is the very male-driven classic American Psycho. This little Vimeo short doesn’t have the budget of a feature film, so it’s a little rough around the edges, but it certainly does make a statement. It’s jarring, in a lot of ways. Why?
