Popular YouTubers Take on Ryan Higa’s #RoastYourself Challenge
YouTube drama: we love it, you love it, there have been whole lawsuits over it. But now it’s going to a whole new level. Remember that scene at the end of 8 Mile when B-Rabbit destroys Papa Doc… by destroying himself?! Here, I’ll refresh your memory:

Still gives me chills. (Also, fun fact, Cranbrook is a real school, and Mitt Romney went there.) Anyway, Ryan Higa, AKA nigahiga, has led a call to arms on YouTube to fight back against all the bullying and bad vibes that have seeped into the platform’s community over the years. Instead of roasting each other, Ryan Higa calls on YouTubers to roast themselves. Check out the original video here:
In the video, Ryan Higa challenges YouTubers to make fun of themselves in a rambling-yet-endearing three minute monologue, then launches into a funny and surprisingly technically skilled self-takedown. He finishes up by calling out Jenna Marbles, DTrix, IISuperwomanII, PewdiePie, KSI, and, most outlandishly of all, NBA player Jeremy Lin. (The two are friends IRL and have appeared in a sketch together.) Several YouTubers have already responded with their own version of the challenge. (I personally can’t wait to see the hydraulic press channel guy rapping about himself in Finnish.) See the entries by Jenna Marbles, Grace Helbig, and IISuperwomanII below. And don’t forget to check out our host RJ Aguiar taking himself down a peg in the video above!

What do you think? Is the #RoastYourself challenge going to cut down on the drama on YouTube, or is it just a fun little time-waster? Who do you want to see roast themselves on YouTube? Let us know in the comments below or @WhatsTrending on Twitter!
