Incredible Shark Feeding Frenzy Captured in Drone Footage

  • If ever there was a good time to not fall out of a boat, this would definitely be one of them. Two boatloads of tourists off the coast of Western Australia stumbled across about 70 large tiger sharks in the aptly-named Shark Bay, going into a feeding frenzy as they tore at the carcass of a humpback whale. Even better for the internet, someone was flying a drone over the two boats and caught the whole scene in the crystal-blue water — which was quickly clouded in a plume of blood that stretched off for hundreds of feet. Tour company Eco Albrohos posted the footage to their Facebook page following the 14-day cruise from Geraldton to Broome, according to the New Zealand Herald. So far it’s been shared more than 3,500 times. Tiger sharks are known to prey on young whales or adults in distress and will go after basically anything — including attacks on humans every so often — so it’s not clear whether they killed the whale or if it was dead when they found it. Either way, they made pretty short work of their meal.
