Emily Ratajkowski Thinks She’s TOO HOT?

• Model/Actress Emily Ratajkowski is known for her work on Blurred Lines, Gone Girl, and for her support of the controversial campaign, #FreetheNipple. Recently, Ratasjowski did an interview with Evening Standard magazine, and several things she’s expressed have gained a great deal of media attention. Specifically, she mentions that “sexy actresses” are treated differently and do not get offered serious roles. “It’s an interesting paradox. If you’re a sexy actress it’s hard to get serious roles. You get offered the same thing they’ve seen you in. … What’s so dumb is that women are 50 percent of the population and they want to spend money to see movie where they’re portrayed as three-dimensional characters.” A great example of this is Scarlett Johansson, who has struggled to get serious dramatic roles all throughout her career. There has also been a recent backlash against traditional Hollywood casting that typically places white, cisgendered males in main roles. The flip-side of the coin however, is that Ratajkowski’s complaints come off as vain, rather than as a serious look at typecasting. Do you think she has a legitimate point?
