  • It happens to the best of us — you try to make a catchy song-and-dance number about Instagram selfies and accidentally create a dick pic anthem. Just the worst. This story originates with “Kaththi,” a popular Indian movie from 2014 that features a song called “Selfie Pulla,” which is basically about a guy thinking a girl is hot and wanting to take a selfie with her — all while performing an elaborate Bollywood dance routine, like you do.  Why are we talking about it in 2014? Well, some perceptive viewers in Romania pointed out in the comments that “pulla” means “dick” in their language, so to them the song is about taking a picture of the guy’s penis. Whoops! Blogger Satyajit Chetri picked up on the story and turned the tables on the Romanians with some embarrassing music videos of their own:   “My Romanian friends have been sending me the link for expert commentary, and it’s hard to keep a straight face. Not since ‘Kolaveri Di’ (which was popular enough to be included in zumba classes in Cluj) has an Indian song made such an impact on Romanian internet circles. “But then, I have my own arsenal of pop culture artifacts to make the most hardened Romanian patriot blush, or at least back away slowly, eager to deny all association with these gold-encrusted nuggets.”  It’s one of the more entertaining internet rabbit holes we’ve fallen down in a while.
