London’s knife crime rates have skyrocketed, and so far there have been 1,296 stabbings in London already this year. However, this number has increased once again, as there have been three more critical stabbings, which has left two men, aged 17 and 20 in a critical condition, and one man aged 30, who sadly passed away due to the violent attack.

There have been 74 murder investigations already this year, and this violent epidemic isn’t getting any better. All of the three stabbings took place in one evening, and residents of London were mortified to hear the news.

First thing I heard on the radio this morning was that there was a stabbing in both Harrow and Northolt last night. Seriously, what is going on?!

Another bloody weekend in London w/ murder number 74 & another @metpoliceuk scene of a crime tent blighting Turnpike Lane in London, traumatising the local community & of course another family is grieving the loss of a loved one. How long will this carry on with no end in sight? pic.twitter.com/0o020Y1VkM

This issue has been going on for long enough, and although there hasn’t been a real reason revealed as to why this type of crime has increased, the Metropolitan police have speculated that it could be due to violent music videos, which are popular with the genre of music, Drill. Some people have also been saying that it’s due to the number of gangs that are present in London.

Even though precautions have been taken to remove the violent videos from YouTube, and knives removed from individuals by police, the issue is still ongoing. Because it seems like nothing is happening, residents of London are growing sick and tired of living every day in constant fear that this will happen to them or their families.

I’m so sick and tired of being scared and anxious all the time in London. Scared of the moped muggings. Scared of the acid attacks. Scared of knife crime. Scared of violent protests. Scared of terrorist attacks. It’s unbelievably sad that these things exist #bekind #spreadlove

I get scared.

I don't carry a knife.

I don't kill people.#KnifeCrimeEpidemic #London #SouthLondon #excuses

People have even said that when the media shows knife crime more often, some people become scared, whereas others may want to get involved, therefore knife crime increases and unfortunately, this issue has now spread to other large UK cities, such as Birmingham.

It’s a vicious cycle, and until the right action is taken to ensure that this issue doesn’t get any worse, it won’t get any better.
